The short version: Your pet's data stays on your device and in your own Google account. We don't collect, sell, or share your information with anyone. Pet Journal has no servers, no analytics, and no ads.

storage What Data Is Stored
Pet Journal stores the following types of information that you enter:
- Pet profiles (name, breed, age, weight, etc.)
- Health entries (daily observations, symptoms, vitals)
- Medical records (medications, treatments, vaccines, appointments)
- Diet and supplement information
- Photos you attach to entries
- Notes and sitter information
- App preferences (dark mode, notification settings)

cloud_off What We Do NOT Do
- No server storage. Pet Journal has no backend servers. Your data never passes through our systems.
- No data collection. We do not collect, track, or store any personal information.
- No analytics or tracking. There are no analytics tools, cookies for tracking, or usage monitoring of any kind.
- No advertising. Pet Journal contains no ads and never will.
- No data selling or sharing. Your information is never sold, shared, or provided to any third party.
- No account required. You can use Pet Journal without creating an account. Google sign-in is optional and only used for cross-device sync.
sync Google Drive Sync
If you choose to enable Google Drive Sync, the following applies:
- Pet Journal requests access only to its own hidden app data folder on your Google Drive using the
drive.appdata scope. It cannot see, read, or modify any of your other Google Drive files.
- Your data is stored as a single JSON file in Google's
appDataFolder, which is invisible in your regular Drive.
- Data retrieved from Google Drive is used solely to display and sync your pet health records within Pet Journal. It is not used for any other purpose.
- Authentication is handled entirely by Google's secure OAuth 2.0 system. Pet Journal never sees or stores your Google password.
- Pet Journal does not transfer your Google data to any third parties.
- No human can read your synced data — it is only processed by the app on your device.
- You can revoke access at any time by signing out in Settings or removing Pet Journal from your Google Account permissions.
verified_user Google API Limited Use Disclosure
Pet Journal's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Pet Journal:
- Only uses Google API data to provide and improve the user-facing sync feature within the app.
- Does not transfer Google API data to any third party, except as necessary to provide the app's functionality, comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger or acquisition with the user's prior consent.
- Does not use Google API data for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
- Does not allow humans to read Google API data, except with the user's affirmative consent, for security purposes, or to comply with applicable law.
delete Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device or in your own Google Drive, you have full control:
- Delete individual entries within the app at any time.
- Clear all local data by clearing your browser's site data for Pet Journal.
- Remove Google Drive data by signing out from Google Drive Sync in Settings, which does not delete the backup. To fully remove the sync file, revoke app access in your Google Account settings.
security Security
Pet Journal takes reasonable measures to protect your data:
- All data stays on your device or your Google account — there is no central database that could be breached.
- Google Drive communication uses HTTPS encryption.
- No sensitive credentials are stored by the app (Google handles authentication directly).
However, please note that browser local storage is not encrypted. Anyone with physical access to your unlocked device could potentially view your data. Use your device's built-in security (screen lock, password) to protect access.
child_care Children's Privacy
Pet Journal is a pet health tracking tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

What Pet Journal Is
Pet Journal is a personal pet health tracking tool designed to help you organize and monitor your pet's care. It is provided free of charge, as-is.
What Pet Journal Is Not
Pet Journal is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. The information, insights, and patterns shown in the app are for personal record-keeping only and should not be used to diagnose, treat, or make medical decisions for your pet. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for health concerns.
Your Data, Your Responsibility
You are responsible for backing up your own data. Since Pet Journal stores data locally in your browser, it can be lost if you clear your browser data, switch devices, or reinstall your browser. We strongly recommend using Google Drive Sync or regular local backups.
No Warranty
Pet Journal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to keep the app reliable and bug-free, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, data preservation, or fitness for any particular purpose.
Limitation of Liability
Pet Journal and its creator shall not be held liable for any data loss, inaccurate health tracking, missed medication reminders, or any decisions made based on information within the app.
Changes to These Terms
We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Pet Journal after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
